At the Homestead
Tennis - Swimming – Croquet - Archery - Shooting
In season the double grass tennis courts play superbly, tennis shoes are essential. The new solar heated swimming pool and pavilion complex is a perfect setting for a cocktail party or just to relax. The large lawns are great for a social game of croquet. We have two superbly made croquet sets thanks to Jen's brother George Wood from Wood Mallets.
Wallingford Golf Holes, Archery & Clay Birds - off front lawn
Three elevated golf holes - $25 for ten balls.
Clay Birds shooting - $25 for ten birds.
Archery - $10 for five arrows.
Game Shooting - charges apply booking essential
Deer, Pheasant, Duck, Turkey and Game Bird shooting. Highly skilled Guides with 4x4 vehicles are available for all Game shooting. Guns and ammunition supplied.
Farm, Native Bush and local area
walks & tours
Wallingford Station is a substantial sheep & beef cattle breeding and fattening operation, trips can occupy a morning or afternoon. We have two QEII Native Bush Reserves covering 40 acres, one of them is an enjoyable easy stroll from the Homestead.
Horse Treking & 4 Wheel Bike riding - charges apply booking essential
We can arrange for fun trips and training if needed for keen riders.
In the Local Area close to Wallingford
Beaches
Wallingford is located some six miles inland from the unspoilt long sandy beaches of Porangahau, with it's genuine nine hole golf links, and Blackhead known for it's outstanding rock and sea fishing. The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel at Porangahau produces some of the finest sea food you can find.
Sea Fishing
Sea fishing trips off the local Coast of Porangahau, with careful, well-equipped and licensed operator Winton Hall from the Porangahau Lodge.
Trout Fishing
The well known Tukituki river is just 20 minutes from Wallingford. We will organise guides or you can simply do your own thing.
Marine Reserve, Cultural and Sightseeing
Local area trips to Te Angiangi (Marine Reserve) - Blackhead wreck to experience paua/kina/crayfish fishing – the Pa Site and river mouth – historic place sites including the hill with the longest name in the world– local craft and culture. These can be arranged at a cost of around $100 per head with lunch and guide provided.

Organised One Day Tours – Hawke's Bay
Winery, Marae, Art Deco, Shopping and other tours in the local and Napier/Hastings/Havelock area can be pre arranged with licensed operators – charges depend on the tour operator used. Golf
There are a number of welcoming and excellent courses in close range, please confirm the green fees at the clubs. We are able to organise and provide a low handicap golfing guide and tutoring - please enquire.
Porangahau - 15-minute drive - 9 hole links, green fees $10, no club or trundler hire available, a real links experience also suitable for family golf and young players. A must play course with Country Club and four new all weather tennis courts right at the beach.
Flemington - 15 minute drive - 9 holes, green fees $8, no club or trundler hire available, a country style course.
Waipawa - 20 minute drive - 12 holes, 5837 metres long, green fees $8, no club or trundler hire available, a good course.
Waipukurau - 20 minute drive - 18 holes, green fees $20, no club or trundler hire available, a good course with newly appointed professional.
Takapau - 20 minute drive - 12 holes, green fees $10, no club or trundler hire available, a good course.
Onga Onga - 20 minute drive - 9 holes, green fees $7 and $10, no club or trundler hire available, a wonderful experience and highly recommended.
Bridge Pa - 40 minute drive - 18 holes, green fees $25, club and trundler hire available. This is one of New Zealand's top courses. Bookings via the Professional's Office are essential.
Flaxmere - 40 minute drive a second 18 hole golf course right next door to Bridge Pa.
Cape Kidnappers - 60 minute drive, rated 27th best course in the world by Golf Magazines Top 100 2005. Perched high above Hawke's Bay on the cliffs of Cape Kidnappers this vertigo enducing course belongs more to heaven than to earth. A new and testing course for the real golfers to challenge, bookings are essential.
Maraenui - 80 minute drive - 18 holes, green fees $35, club and trundler hire available. This is a top course and highly recommended. Bookings via the Professional's Office are essential.
