Croquet – For the competitive, there is always a regulation croquet pitch set on the front lawn. If you have not played, croquet is a wonderful sport to play in the evening with drinks and canapés. Archery and pétanque are also available.
The Wallingford Golf hole is an elevated driving range off the front of the house. There are prizes set on small targets at 50, 100 and 190 metres
The solar heated pool is maintained from Septmber to April, and has underwater lights at nighttime. It’s suitable for children too, being approximately a metre deep at the shallow end.
The pool pavilion has a fully licensed bar, open fireplace and overhead heaters for the winter.
The 65” Plasma screen has all Sky Sports television channels. In the height of the summer, watch your favourite sports team while swimming in the pool.
Near the homestead there is 20 acres of QEII bush to walk in. Along with the native flora and fauna, the bush has Tui and wood pigeons.
Around the house we have Plane tree groves, an Oak avenue driveway, rivers and farmlands to walk on and see the countryside with its livestock and native birds. Farm tours of our 2,200 acre sheep and beef farm are available.
With long rambling hallways, there is no better house in the country for hide & seek.
If they’re older, we have a cricket set, a petanque set, hockey sticks and balls, and dogs to play with.
And in the warm solar heated pool, you’ll have no complaints from your children as they swim all day long and you relax on bean bags poolside.
Off the front of the homestead we offer elevated clay bird shooting. Clay bird shooting is a fantastic sport for bonding and competition, and we are happy to cater to large and small groups of shooters.
Golf is a strong suit of Wallingford, with six courses within twenty minutes’ drive. A one hour drive away is the world-class Cape Kidnappers course with a no-prisoners reputation. Click the link for a full list of Golf Courses available nearby.
Hawkes Bay is blessed with an abundance of fly-fishing rivers. The Tuki Tuki is closest, at only twenty minutes drive from Wallingford. Other rivers within driving distance are the Tutaekuri and the Ngaruroro. There are many local guides for 4X4 fishing trips or heli-fishing.
Wallingford has a truffiere in which 1600 Oak Trees have been innoculated with Black Truffle – Tuber Melanosporum. You are welcome to walk through the orchard to see how truffles are grown.
