“What an amazing one-night stay...
so happy we booked it, but so sad we only stayed for one night... This place is the best we’ve been in nz so far. Jeanette and Chris are great hosts, beautiful surroundings, swimming pool and rooms and last but definitely not least THE FOOD!! Chris is an amazing chef and our dinner (with the kids) was spectacular and breakfast was a masterpiece as well. This place will probably be off the route for many, but take (at least) 2 nights out of your busy travel schedule to spend them here and be spoiled (and all for more than reasonable prices).”

“We were lucky enough to stay 2 nights at this old homestead at Wallingford.It was the middle of winter so we enjoyed open fires,superb food and a warm house.
Our hosts could not do enough for us and the time passed by so quickly we left with regret.
We are making a return trip in the summer to enjoy the outdoor pool and garden surroundings with what I am sure will be a wonderful lunch. Thankyou Jeanette and Chris.”

“We had an incredible time at Wallingford Homestead. The grounds were immaculate, the staff were incredibly friendly. Both Jeanette and Chris made our stay so pleasant. We had our father’s 65th birthday dinner at Wallingford and he said it was the best meal he had ever had in 65 years!! We had two toddlers with us and they loved being able to run in the garden and see the chickens. The atmosphere is very family oriented and pleasant. We will definitely be going back!”

“What an amazing place- beautiful rooms and wonderful accommodation. The 8 course degastation dinner was probably the best meal we have ever had. So beautifully presented and the tastes out of this world. Our hosts and Chef( Chris Stockdale) presented a dinner that couldn’t be faulted and the service was excellent. What we liked was the relaxed and friendly atmosphere but very professional service. Every course was obviously prepared and cooked to the highest standard. Breakfast was included in our stay and once again this was superb. We have travelled a lot in NZ and overseas but the breakfast we had here was one out of the box.
This truly is a wonderful place to stay and the house and grounds are magnificent. If you want to celebrate a special occasion with family , friends or work colleagues please do look into the Wallingford Homestead - it has so much history as it was the homestead of Sir John Ormond and the lovely friendly hosts ( the chefs as well) will make your stay very special”

“Wallingford Homestead has the Wow factor. Exceptional garden-fresh food, service with a smile, and rich family history combine to create an experience you will want to share with all your family and friends.
We arrived at sunset and explored the grounds with G&T in hand and pet dogs at our feet.
Now, I am sitting outside, in autumnal sunshine, listening to songbirds and blissful music that brought a sense of calm to our morning breakfast of freshly smoked salmon, newly baked bread and a variety of small dishes that excited our palate.
Similarly, our five-course set dinner menu introduced us to exquisite flavors: kina in black linguine and my personal pièce de résistance, paua with smoked tomato. Wow!”
